New Delhi. Australia won the last and deciding match of the three-match series against West Indies by six wickets to take the series 2-1. In the last match of the series played in Barbados, West Indies were reduced to just 152 runs, Australia achieved the target in 30.3 overs losing just four wickets. Thus ended Australia’s tour of West Indies. Earlier, a five-match T20 International series was played between the two teams, which West Indies won 4-1. Australia won the toss in the deciding match of the ODI series and gave West Indies a chance to bat. The Australian bowlers did not give the Caribbean batsmen a chance to play freely.
For West Indies, Evin Lewis played the highest innings of 55 runs, apart from him, no other batsman could even reach the 20-run mark. No batsman could play a big partnership from the West Indies side and the team had to bear the brunt of losing the match. Mitchell Starc took three wickets for Australia. Ashton Agar, who was the man of the match, took the wickets of Shai Hope and Darren Bravo for just 31 runs in 10 overs. Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa also took two wickets each, while one wicket went to Ashton Turner’s account. Lewis returned not out after scoring 55 off 66 balls.
In reply, Australia did not start well either. By 27 runs, both Moises Henriques and Josh Philippe had returned to the pavilion. After this, Alex Carey and Mitchell Marsh together handled the innings. Marsh was dismissed after scoring 29 runs. Alex Carey was dismissed for 35. Matthew Wade returned not out after scoring 51 runs and together with Ashton Agar (not out) led the team to victory. Mitchell Starc was the player of the match.
