Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh got relief from the scorching heat due to scorching rain on Sunday, but electricity fell on the people as havoc. In many districts of the state, 41 people died due to lightning, while more than 32 were injured. In Prayagraj alone, 14 people lost their lives, while four people got burnt. Four people died in Kaushambi and one in Pratapgarh. Five including three women in Fatehpur, five including a woman in Kanpur countryside died due to lightning. Cousin and sister died in Unnao due to lightning.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to lightning in Tehsil Koraon, Bara, Karchana and Soraon of Prayagraj district. He has directed to immediately distribute the permissible relief amount to the families of the deceased. Condolences have been expressed to the bereaved families of the deceased. At the same time, instructions have also been given for the treatment of the injured in Tehsil Phulpur and Soraon.
Three people died in Koraon police station area of Prayagraj, three in Bara and two in Karchana. Six people lost their lives at different places in Soraon Tehsil of Gangapar. Among the dead are one boy, two teenagers, three teenage girls and three women and middle-aged and elderly people. ADM (Finance and Revenue) MP Singh said that the details of those who died due to the lightning and the damage report have been sent to the government. Four lakh rupees will be given to the deceased dependents. Six buffaloes and five goats, goats also died.
Two people each died in Kaushambi’s Chail and Manjhanpur tehsils. Additional District Magistrate Manoj Kumar gave this information. A young man who was planting paddy in Lalganj tehsil area lost his life due to lightning in Pratapgarh. Five others got burnt here. However, his condition is out of danger. In Sangamnagari till 3 o’clock there was heavy and sometimes moderate rain. It was raining at some places till 6 pm. This has given immediate relief from the humidity. Earlier there was heavy rain in the second week of June. Then the sequence came to a halt.
On Sunday, 16 people died and 14 were scorched in Kanpur and adjoining districts due to lightning. Five including three women in Fatehpur, five including a woman in Kanpur Dehat, a woman and an old farmer in Hamirpur, cousins and sisters in Unnao, a youth in Ghatampur and a young woman in Banda were killed in the thunderstorm. Nine villagers were scorched in Farrukhabad and five in Fatehpur due to thunderstorms. 39 cattle including 34 goats died in Ghatampur. Three buffaloes died in Orai’s Maheva and two Chitrakoot buffaloes.
A house was damaged in Jalaun’s Devkali, electrical appliances were blown up in several villages. Farmer Hemraj and his neighbor Ramsevak died in Nagla Umar village of Firozabad due to lightning. Amar Singh Kushwaha, a farmer who was planting paddy in village Nagla Chaat, died. One cow, including that of Chhotelal Yadav, died in Undhani village of Makhanpur. Nine women who had gone to plant paddy got scorched due to lightning in the field with strong thunder and lightning near Kalkalwa Margin dam of Bargadaha village of Shravasti. All are being treated at CHC Malhipur. CHC superintendent Ravindra Sonkar said that the women have been admitted to the hospital.
The mother who was breastfeeding the infant died of a heart attack due to lightning near the house in Obra, Sonbhadra, while the innocent survived safely. On the other hand, Vikal, son of Rajkumar, a resident of Rickshaw Khurd under Madihan police station of Mirzapur district, died on Sunday evening due to lightning. Vikal had gone to Pathhariya Siwan to graze his cow, 400 meters away from the house.
