Dehradun. For the prevention of corona infection, the period of Kovid curfew implemented in the state has been extended till 6 am on June 15 with some concessions. Like last week, shops of grocery and stationery and books will open for two days this week, while shops of food packaging, readymade clothes, tailors, glasses, cycle stores, industrial machinery, motor parts, dry cleaners, photocopiers, timber merchant shops for one day and liquor. It has been decided to open shops for three days. The opening hours for all these shops on the scheduled dates have been kept from 8 am to 1 pm.
The timing of opening of shops of essential commodities has also been changed from 8 am to 12 am. Earlier these shops were opening from 8 am to 11 am. After assessing the situation of corona infection in rural areas, the government has authorized the district magistrates to relax the curfew as per the requirement. Vehicle operation with two-third capacity will be allowed in inter-state public transport. After this decision of the government, in the late evening, the standard operating procedure (SOP) regarding curfew was also issued by the government.
In view of the increasing cases of corona infection in the state, Kovid curfew was implemented on 10 May. After this, its duration was extended by one week each in the second, third and fourth phases. The curfew period of the fourth phase is going to end on June 8 at 6 am. Meanwhile, the cases of corona infection have decreased. Sunday was a relaxed day in this respect and only 446 positive cases came. Of these, only Dehradun has more than a hundred cases, while in other districts this number is between four and 67. In view of the decrease in the cases of infection, there was a constant demand to relax the curfew. Especially, emphasis is being laid on opening the market by referring to the arrangements of other states including Uttar Pradesh on behalf of the business class.
In view of all this, the government also brainstormed after asking for the data of corona infection from the districts of the state. On Sunday, government spokesperson and cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal reviewed the situation along with Chief Secretary Omprakash, Secretary Disaster Management SA Murugesan, Secretary Health Amit Negi and other officials. Cabinet Minister Uniyal also discussed with Leader of Opposition Dr. Indira Hridayesh and State Congress President Pritam Singh regarding curfew. After this, the government decided to extend the Kovid curfew till June 15 with some concessions. According to government spokesperson Uniyal, some relaxations have been given in the curfew after assessing all the circumstances.
He said that the District Magistrates have been asked to assess the situation in rural areas and take a decision regarding relaxation or relaxation in curfew there.
