Lucknow . The owner of a private hospital in Lucknow has been arrested for assaulting an employee of a TV news channel. Akhilesh Pandey of Sun Hospital was arrested on Tuesday night after filing a complaint on behalf of Nitin Mishra on Monday.
Chandra Shekhar Singh, station in-charge of Vibhuti Khand said that Nitin Mishra in his FIR has alleged that he had gone to the hospital in Gomti Nagar on Monday to advertise his channel. When Pandey held him hostage for hours and beaten him. He also took his gold chain and cash.
The FIR has been registered under sections 392 (robbery), 342 (hostage), 323 (voluntarily injuring), 504 (intentional libel with intent to breach peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
Pandey’s lawyer Abhinav Nath Tripathi said, “The channel executive misbehaved with my client. He was trying to blackmail her. The hospital had CCTV footage taken by the police and apparently removed the related footage. Have given.”
He further said that he has applied for bail and accused the police of not considering Pandey’s complaint against the news channel employee.
Police have denied the charge of bias in the case.
The hospital owner has previously been booked on May 5 for misinforming the availability of oxygen at the facility and for recruiting patients.
The district administration had registered an FIR against the officers after they found adequate oxygen stock in the hospital.
