Dehradun. 18 out of 190 Atal excellent schools in Uttarakhand have not received CBSE accreditation. Due to non-fulfillment of the standard, there is a screw up in front of schools regarding recognition. To solve this problem, the state government has sent a letter to the chairman of CBSE asking for relaxation in recognition as well as deferment to meet the standard.
The state government has selected two state schools in each block as Atal Upadhyaya Vidyalaya. These schools are being accredited by CBSE. The effect of this work done on a war footing is that except 18 schools, the rest have got CBSE recognition. These schools have not been able to meet the prescribed standards for recognition. Among them, Almora district has the highest number of eight Atal excellent schools. Apart from this, there are three schools each in Chamoli, Pauri and Pithoragarh districts.
One school in Tehri district has not been recognized. CBSE has asked to correct the flaws found on about six points. The school building structure should be as a unit as per CBSE standard. Not having a single building in some schools has come in the way of recognition. There should be adequate boundary walls, adequate arrangements of teachers around the school premises. Also, the school should have its own website. Efforts are being made by the state government to fulfill some of these standards.
Therefore, the Secretary of Education has sent a letter to the Chairman of CBSE asking for an extension to meet the standard. Also, it has been requested to give recognition to the said schools till the standard is met. The date of application for appointment of teachers and principals in Atal excellent schools has been extended to 25 May. The Directorate of Academic Research and Training will also conduct a three-day training program from 26 to 28 May to bring the scheme to fruition soon.
