Nainital: Timur, full of medicinal properties, will now also become an important means of economic improvement of the villagers. The Forest Department is preparing a plan to make it a source of income for the villagers by planting it on a large scale. Under this, plants will be prepared in the nursery of the department, which will be planted in forest panchayats. This year, the department has targeted to plant more than 30 thousand saplings. After this, the villagers will also be able to make income from its seed production.
The Land Conservation Forest Division undertakes large plantations every year for forest and water conservation in forest panchayats. Now the Nainital Forest Division is planning to link the plantation with the income of the villagers. DFO Dinkar Tiwari said that this year there are plans to plant Timur saplings in 339 forest panchayats of the division, for which saplings have been prepared in the nursery. This year more than 30 thousand saplings will be planted on 21868 hectare forest panchayat land of Nainital Forest Division. After production of seeds from these plants, they will be sold through self-help groups. Continuing this scheme in the following years, the area of Timur on Van Panchayat land will be expanded.
Timur is full of medicinal properties
The entire tree of Timur is full of medicinal properties. Its wooden tooth is effective in curing diseases like pyorrhea. The use of leaves and bark is used in medicine to cure many diseases. Its seeds are also used in spices, chutneys and tea.
Price of seed is one thousand rupees per kg
Timur seeds are also in great demand in the market as well as spices with medicinal properties. Dinkar Tiwari said that it is also used to make toothpaste, due to which the price of its seeds is up to one thousand rupees per kg. It will be sent for sale to Ramnagar through self-help groups formed after production of its seed in Van Panchayat land.
Terror of wild animals will also get relief
Timur will also relieve the terror of wild animals. Due to its tree being thorny, wild creatures do not harm it. It will be planted on the forest panchayat land bordering the village in such a way that a fence is prepared for the wild animals entering the fields of the village, so that the wild animals do not come into the population.
