Patna. After making headlines in the 13th edition of the IPL in the UAE last year after scoring 516 runs and the highest number of 30 sixes, it was decided that Patna’s Ishan Kishan’s footsteps are close to the doors of the Indian team. This year, he scored 173 runs in 94 balls against Madhya Pradesh in the first match of Vijay Hazare Trophy and his dream of being a part of Indian team was fulfilled on the same day.
On Sunday, when he got a chance in the second T20 match against England, he played a fiery innings to show why he preferred cricket more than studies. Today, he will not even regret that he was shown the way out after missing from school due to cricket. He will also not regret that he left Bihar 12 years ago and moved to Jharkhand in search of a better future.
Ishan was weak in studies from the beginning. He would always be missing from his school DPS due to cricket. For this reason, he was dropped out of school in ninth grade. As such, he passed the 10th examination from a school in Danapur near Patna. During this time, coaches like Santosh Kumar and Uttam Mazumdar praised him. Elder brother Raj Kishan also played an important role in this, giving up his cricketing career to make Ishan a cricketer.
However, Ishan had to go to Jharkhand in 2011 due to the conditions of Bihar cricket not being right. It was his first match for Jharkhand against Tripura in the Under-16s, where a poor performance could show him the way out. However, he scored 67 runs in the first innings and scored an unbeaten 97 not out in the second innings. He had to score four runs to win the final ball, on which he hit a six and gave the team the victory. After this, I did not look back.
Ishan was named captain of the Indian team for the Under-19 World Cup in 2016, following his brilliant performances in Ranji, Duleep and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Under his captaincy, the team traveled to the finals. Ishan Kishan’s father, Pranab Pandey, says, “Today, not only my life, the whole Bihar dream is fulfilled by Ishan. He could play a longer innings. I hope he has experience by spending time in the dressing room with big players Will grow and he will be able to serve the Indian team for a long time. “
