Gopeshwar Eventually 19 days later the rescue team reached the Tea Tunnel of the main tunnel of the Vishnugad hydroelectric project at Tapovan. Now this team will run the rescue in the Silt Flushing Tunnel (SFT) attached to it. 34 employees went to work in SFT on the day of the disaster on February 7, since then they are being investigated. So far 14 bodies have been recovered from the main tunnel. The rest is likely to be buried under debris within the SFT.
Since the day of the disaster on February 7, the NDRF team is engaged in removing debris from the main tunnel. After 19 days, the rescue team has taken 180 meters of debris and reached the tee point. However, due to the large amount of water leaking inside the tunnel, there are problems in removing debris. Four 20-inch pumps are being pumped out by NTPC. After the main tunnel, debris removal is to be done in SFT. NTPC General Manager Rajendra Prasad Ahriwal said that due to the small size of SFT, debris will now be removed from small machines instead of heavy machines. After this, relief will be done 10 meters inside.
Boulders are being broken by explosion
NTPC’s project barrage site has had to work hard to remove debris. There are huge boulders here with inundation. Under these boulders, corpses are to be found in the rubble. In such a situation, the boulders are being broken by the blast. The missing persons will be searched in the debris at the diversion site after breaking the boulders.
