Dehradun. The Municipal Corporation is preparing to collect fines again to stop the use of polythene in the city. Currently, the corporation is warning of confiscation of polythene, but the Municipal Commissioner has ordered recovery of the fine from March 1.
The Municipal Corporation has embarked on a massive campaign in the city following the ban on the use, production and sale of single-use products made of plastic and thermocol, including polyethylene carrybags, by the state cabinet for the removal of single-use plastics. For violation of the rules, fines ranging from Rs 100 to Rs five lakh have been ordered.
The Municipal Corporation had launched a massive campaign against single-use plastics in 2019. Last year, due to Corona period, the corporation stopped the campaign. The municipal corporation has now taken a tough stance. Awareness campaign on behalf of the corporation after complete ban on use, sale, production, storage and transport of polythene carry bags, plastic-thermocol bags, leaves, glass, cups, spoons, fork, straw, knife, packing material Has been started. Municipal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that in view of the cleanliness survey, fines are now being prepared.
The strike also affected the Corona investigation
The impact of the subaltern strike is also visible in the corona investigation. Due to this, sampling work has been interrupted in Doon Medical College Hospital. Sampling has been made in the central lab, but now more than ever, samples are being made.
The graph of the corona in the state has decreased in the recent past. In such a situation, many colleges and universities are also opening. Students coming from other states have to show their corona report before entry into hostels or colleges. On which every day a huge crowd is gathering in Doon Medical College Hospital for investigation. Till now, there was a system of sampling in old billindings and 250-300 samples were being taken daily. But this system has also collapsed due to the strike of the subaltern personnel. Sampling work is now being done directly in the Central Lab under alternative arrangements. In which the entry of the sample giver is also being done manually. In this new system, the sampling figure is only a quarter of what it was before. Only 50 could be sampled on Wednesday. Principal Dr. Ashutosh Sayana says that in view of the strike, alternative arrangements have been made. Perhaps there is confusion about the strike. It will be seen why the samples have decreased.
