Now the captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli explained why Washington Sundar was given the chance to replace Kuldeep Yadav with the playing XI.
Virat Kohli said before the start of the match that, Mo. Jasprit Bumrah replaced Siraj, while Washington Sundar returned to the side in place of Kuldeep Yadav. He said, for the Pink Ball Test match, we needed an extra batsman and spinner and this was done by all-rounder Washington Sundar, which gave him a chance. He said that according to the circumstances here, we needed an extra batsman. Kuldeep Yadav was given a chance in the second Test, but his performance was not much.
Let me tell you, England’s batting completely collapsed in the first innings of the first Test match between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium and the entire team was all out for only 112 runs. Axar Patel took 6 wickets while bowling deadly from Team India and also made the record for taking the highest wicket in a day-night test match. R Ashwin got 3 wickets in this innings. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had no success, but Ishant Sharma, playing his 100th Test match, got a breakthrough in the first innings.
