New Delhi. One of Asia’s safest jails, Delhi High Court (Delhi High Court) on the murder of a prisoner inside the Tihar Jail, surprised by saying that it happens in novels. A bench of Justice Pratiba M Singh of the Delhi High Court made the said comment on a petition filed on behalf of her father Ali Sher demanding compensation of Rs five crore for the son’s murder, along with the Bench Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi And directed the Delhi Police to submit a status report in the case.
Apart from this, the High Court bench asked the Delhi Police that if any FIR has been registered in the case, then tell what is the status of the investigation, the report should also tell whether the barracks in which the prisoner was locked have CCTV footage. The bench has also asked the Delhi Police to explain what happened in the case against the prisoner.
The court directed the Delhi Police to give all the information related to the investigation to the victim’s father Ali Sher. The court adjourned the hearing till March 5 with these instructions. During the hearing, Standing Counsel Sanjay Ghosh, appearing for the Delhi Government, said that the occurrence of such an incident inside the capital is a matter of grave concern.
Ali Sher, who filed a petition through advocate Anwar A Khan, said that his son Dilsher Azad was in jail since September 2019. On 30 November, the police informed him that his son had died, but when he reached the jail, the jail authorities did not cooperate with him nor gave the exact reason for the death.
