new Delhi . Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Wednesday that these laws are ‘optional and not mandatory’. He assured that the Central Government is ready to accept the logical suggestions of the farmers on three new agricultural laws. The Prime Minister made the announcement while speaking on the motion of thanks on the President’s address to the Lok Sabha.
Against the backdrop of the farmers’ agitation on the borders of Delhi for two months, Modi said that ‘rumors are being spread that these laws are against the farmers’.
The Prime Minister said that these laws were passed in the Parliament with a view to improving the agricultural sector as it is the need of the hour.
He asked if these three agricultural laws are taking away the facilities of the farmers, which they were getting earlier.
He said, “There is no restriction on anyone. These laws do not impede the development of farmers. These laws are optional, not mandatory. These laws neither stop the old ‘mandis’ nor the minimum support price. (MSP) on the purchase of produce is affected. ”
The Prime Minister said that the government has always honored the farmers and the government will continue to honor them in future also. The government is ready to accept their logical suggestions on these laws even after several rounds of negotiations with them.
He said that the government held various rounds of talks with the farmers before reaching Delhi, where they have been agitating since 26 November.
“We are still ready to negotiate openly with the farmers and implement their suggestions on these three agricultural laws,” Modi said.
Reiterating that after the passage of these laws, no ‘mandis’ were closed nor the purchase of MSP was affected. In contrast, the Prime Minister said that we have a provision to increase the number of mandis in this budget and procurement on MSP has also increased compared to earlier.
During the Prime Minister’s speech, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary constantly tried to create disruption during his address and the opposition started creating uproar.
Responding to the disruptions caused by the Congress leader, the Prime Minister said that this ‘ruckus is an attempt under a pre-determined strategy’.
He said, “It will not help you (Congress) in gaining the support of the people. Agricultural reforms are very important. It is necessary. Congress members should have discussed the content and intent (content and intent) of these agricultural laws, They should not mislead farmers and spread rumors. “
