Kathmandu The consignment of Kovid-19 vaccine sent by India has reached Nepal. India had approved the vaccine to be sent to Nepal. The Indian Ambassador to Nepal handed over the vaccines to Health Minister Hridesh Tripathi at a function held at Kathmandu Airport.
The consignment of ‘Made in India’ Kovid vaccine was left for Nepal this morning.
In a tweet, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said, “Nepal receives Indian vaccines. Putting nibber first, putting people first. Hashtag vaccine friendship.”
India is providing vaccines to its neighboring countries under the ‘Vaccine Friendship’ initiative.
As part of the program, India sent Kovid-19 vaccines to Bhutan and Maldives on Wednesday.
Nepal’s Health Minister Tripathi said in a joint press conference, India has approved 1 million doses of the vaccine against coronavirus. During this time Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Quatra was also present.
Nepal plans to vaccinate Health and other frontline workers first.
