Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government is going to build godowns across the state for storing grain to increase the income of farmers. In the first phase, the center has approved the plan to build 5000 storage godowns. With the selection of land, the state government will start construction of grain storage godowns in the villages. Farmers will not have to go far to keep their grain. Due to the compulsion of crop failure, he will not have to sell at a low price.
A plan to build a grain storage warehouse will cost around Rs 2500 crore. The total storage capacity of all these warehouses will be around 8.60 lakh MT. Along with farmers’ grains in these godowns, the government will also be able to store locally purchased grains.
Yogi government is also linking the scheme of storage of grain with employment in villages. Local people in storage corporations will be given both contractual and permanent employment opportunities in the positions of caretaker, operator and babu.
