Dehradun. Nowadays teaching children in English medium school has become a status symbol. The situation is that even the lower middle class are going out of their economic power and getting their children enrolled in private schools for their future. But Gulistan Anjum, daughter of a family of Bhuddi village of Doon, has shown a mirror to all the people avoiding government and Hindi medium schools. He has succeeded in Uttarakhand Judicial Service (Civil Judge) examination.
Gulistan’s father Haji Hussain Ahmed is a SP leader and tenant. Gulistan did his early education with GIC Malhan. After this, DAV graduated from PG College and LLB. He took the PCS-J exam in 2017 too, but missed out on a few marks. This time prepared for the exam with full vigor and also succeeded. Gulistan has four sisters and one brother. She has a sister Zeenat MA Gold Medalist and runs her own school.
Brother Asad Ahmed had cleared PCS in the first attempt. PCS Asad of 2015 batch is now posted at State GST Haridwar. Gulistan has proved that students of government schools can also succeed in high level competitive examinations if given proper guidance. RA Khan, the Guru of Gulistan and director of Prayag IAS Academy, says that success is not through private school or English medium, but through hard work, passion and determination.
