Gaya. Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushil Kumar Modi claimed that the target is to procure 45 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in Bihar and 2 lakh metric tonnes have been procured. He said that the state government has also abolished the requirement of land paper to facilitate paddy purchase and the central government has increased the support price of paddy by Rs 53 to Rs 1868 per quintal.
Addressing the BJP Farmer Awareness Campaign at Wazirganj in Gaya district, Modi said that as long as Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister, no power can finish the MSP, nor can any corporate house take over the farmer’s land.
He said that the parties which could not defeat the BJP in elections from Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha to Zilla Parishad, are all trying to mislead the farmers on the new agricultural laws.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Modi said, “The NDA government in Bihar abolished the Agricultural Market Committee Act in 2006 and gave the farmers freedom from the tightness of the market and middlemen. Bihar became the first state in the country to free farmers from the market anywhere Gave a big market to sell the crop. ”
He further added, “We implemented the agricultural road map in 2008, making Bihar fourth in vegetable production and eighth in fruit production in the country. Due to farmer-friendly policies between 2005 and 2015, Bihar’s agricultural growth rate of 4.5 per cent Whereas, Punjab’s agricultural growth rate during this period was only 1.6 percent. ”
He said that the farmers of Bihar have faith in the NDA policy and intentions, so they did not fall prey to opposition on the issue of agricultural law. His Bharat Bandh in Bihar was a failure.
