new Delhi. For the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, Uttar Pradesh team has been given the command of batsman Priyam Garg. The selectors of the UP senior team have made all-rounder Karan Sharma vice-captain with him. This information was given by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association Chief Executive Officer Deepak Sharma. In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy camp at Kamla Club, both these players are preparing for the entire team.
Priyam Garg, originally a Meerut resident batsman, was rewarded for his consistently good performance. He made a mark by playing under-16 from UP, playing Ranji team and BCCI under-19 India team. The Indian Under-19 team had traveled to the finals under Priyam’s captaincy. In the recently concluded IPL, Priyam played 14 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad. At the same time, Meerut-born and playing from Ghaziabad will play the responsibility of the vice-captain for the battling batsman and spinner Karan Sharma.
Veteran batsmen like Suresh Raina can also play in this tournament for UP. In such a situation, Priyam Garg will get his support. At the same time, there will be a chance to join the Indian team in the future. Apart from this, he also has a chance to make a mark of himself, as he has done well at the Under 19 level as a player and as a captain. However, in the Under-19 World Cup, the Indian team lost to Bangladesh in the final. The batsmen did not perform well in that match.
After the Under 19 World Cup, he was selected by Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020. Priyam Garg had a consistent chance for Hyderabad. On one or two occasions, he proved himself, played big innings for the team, as a result of which he remained in the team continuously.
