Kanpur . Three policemen have been suspended in Unnao last year under the protection of family members of the rape victim who was set on fire by upper caste people. She was suspended after the victim’s six-year-old nephew went missing. Inspector General (Lucknow Range) Laxmi Singh, who went to Unnao to investigate the case, ordered the suspension of gunner Narendra Kumar Yadav, constable Rajesh Kumar and female constable Anuj.
The incident occurred late on Friday, following which the police registered a case against five people on the basis of the family’s complaint. Investigations and searches are on to trace the child.
The names of Captains Bajpayee, Saroj Trivedi, Anita, Sundara Lodh and Harshit Bajpayee are included in the complaint. All belong to the same village and are relatives of the accused in the rape victim’s case. Significantly, the accused in the case are Shubham and Shivam Trivedi, Hari Shankar, Umesh and Ram Kishore.
The rape victim was allegedly burnt alive on 5 December 2019. Due to severe burns in the fire, he was taken to Delhi for treatment, where he died a day later.
The rape victim was going to the railway station to board the train to go to Rae Bareli to meet her lawyer, when the accused who came out on the vine burnt her alive.
Superintendent of Police, Unnao, Anand Kulkarni said, “Three police employees have been suspended, besides a case has been registered under section 364 of IPC at Bihar Police Station and Bihar, Barsagwar, Purva for recovering the missing child. Teams from five police stations, including Mourvan and Bighapur, have been pressed into service. We are expecting the baby to be recovered soon. “
