Itanagar Five people, who went missing from Arunachal Pradesh on September 2 and later found in Chinese territory, have been handed over to India by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China on Saturday. The development comes at a time when there is a tense tension between the two countries with the LAC. Defense sources have said that these five youths who were missing have been brought to India after 11 days. They were told that they had been kidnapped.
All five were handed over to Indian authorities at Damai near Kibithu in Anjav district of eastern Arunachal Pradesh. Lt. Col. Harsh Vardhan Pandey, Public Relations Officer of the Department of Defense said in a statement, “After completing all the formalities in Kibithu on Saturday, the Chinese Army has handed over five youths to the Indian Army. Under the Kovid-19 protocol these people 14 days will be kept in quarantine, then these will be handed over to their families. ”
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had informed the Indian Army on Tuesday that the five, who had gone missing from the Sino-Indian border in Subansiri district on September 2, were found in their area.
Defense sources had said that these people have been returned due to the continuous efforts of the Indian Army. These people had inadvertently crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on 2 September.
According to local media, the incident came to light when two members of the group returned home from the forest and informed the villagers about the abduction of five people. These people were kidnapped from Serra 7, which is about 12 km north of the Indian Army patrol area, north of Nacho.
Nacho McMahon is the last administrative circle close to the line. It is about 120 km from Upper Subansiri District Headquarters Darpojis, which is 280 km from Itanagar, the state capital.
