The police carried out a major operation late Wednesday night in the Mawana police station area of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. In an encounter with the criminals of the interstate gang who looted the salesman of a liquor shop, the police arrested four criminals including three rewardees after being shot, while the fifth was also caught.
Actually, this encounter took place near Tigri Cut Mubarikpur turn when the five criminals were escaping in a white Toyota Glanza car. When the police signaled them to stop, the criminals started firing, in retaliation, four criminals were shot in the legs. The injured criminals have been identified as Rajneesh alias Chhotu, Shivam alias Golu, Vineet Bhadana and Ankit.
At the same time, the fifth criminal Tarun was arrested from the spot itself. Rajneesh, Vineet and Shivam are criminals with a reward of Rs 25,000 each from various police stations of Meerut.
Superintendent of Police (Rural), Rakesh Kumar Mishra said that four pistols of .315 bore, four live and two empty cartridges and the Toyota car used in the incident have been recovered from the possession of the miscreants. The injured miscreants were sent to CHC Mawana for treatment and a case has been registered against all of them under serious sections.
Important role of 14-member police team
Two days ago, the gang had beaten up Ashok Kumar, the salesman of the government liquor shop located on Mill Road in Mawana, and looted liquor and beer crates. FIR number 178/25 of this incident was registered under section 309(6) BNS. In this encounter, the 14-member police team led by the Mawana police station in-charge played an important role.
