Hyderabad: Telangana Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha has withdrawn her comments about actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce from Naga Chaitanya. Recently, Samantha had strongly objected to the minister’s statement, after which the minister has withdrawn her words. Telangana minister Konda Surekha said that her comments were not meant to hurt her feelings, but to question a leader’s insult to women.
The minister told Samantha that she not only admires her way of moving forward in life with self-power, but is also a role model for her. Konda Surekha wrote, ‘If you or your fans are hurt by my words, I unconditionally take back my words’.
The minister’s statement linking Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao to the actor couple’s divorce created a ruckus. After this statement, Rama Rao has sent her a legal notice to withdraw her statement and apologize or face legal action.
Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, her father and actor Nagarjuna have criticized the minister on this issue. Many film personalities including South superstar Jr NTR, actor Nani have also attacked the minister for dragging the names of film stars to target his political opponents.
Samantha clarified that her divorce has happened with mutual consent and peacefully. She urged the minister not to make her journey difficult and be responsible and respectful towards the privacy of the people. At the same time, Naga Chaitanya said that the minister’s claim is not only false but also completely ridiculous and unacceptable.
Naga Chaitanya’s stepmother Amala Akkineni has expressed disappointment over Konda Surekha’s comments. Amala has shared a post on X and said, ‘Rahul Gandhi ji, if you believe in human courtesy, please rein in your leaders and ask your minister to withdraw his venomous statement by apologizing to my family. Protect the citizens of this country’. Nagarjuna also requested the minister not to use the lives of film stars who stay away from politics to criticise his opponents.
