Lucknow. On Wednesday, while people were struggling to reach their destinations due to waterlogging caused by rain, hooligans were misbehaving with pedestrians passing through the Taj Hotel underpass in Gomti Nagar.
Children and women were pushed into the water
The miscreants who had gathered amidst the torrential rains threw passing vehicles into the water and threw dirty water and mud on some. They kicked and punched the bumpers and windows of vehicles. The miscreants did not spare even women and children and pushed them into the water as well.
Police did not arrive even after the pictures went viral
It is surprising that the ACP office is located above the underpass where all this was going on. The police did not arrive even after the pictures and videos of the hooliganism going on under the underpass were circulated on the internet media. For more than an hour, the hooligans kept misbehaving with children, women and the elderly.
Hours later, pictures of the riot reached Gomtinagar police
The scooty rider threw an old man into the water and people started throwing water on him. A woman riding a bike was going with her family. The rioters pulled her bike, due to which she fell into the water. When pictures of the riot started trending on X and other social media platforms, Gomtinagar police reached after hours.
The police later posted on X that everything became normal and people were removed from there.
Action is being taken on the basis of the video
Regarding this, Deputy Commissioner of Police East Prabal Pratap Singh says that on the basis of the video, a case has been registered against unknown rioters and action is being taken. Teams have been set up to identify and arrest them from the video.
Inspector Gomtinagar Deepak Kumar Pandey is saying that as soon as the matter came to light, police force was immediately sent to the spot. As soon as the police reached, the rioters fled. Everyone is being identified. They will also be arrested soon.
