Late night in Jaleshwar Ashram in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh, miscreants poured inflammable substance on a Baba and set him on fire alive. Baba, who was in critical condition and suffered 90 percent burn injuries, was admitted to the medical college for treatment. When Baba’s condition became serious, he was referred to Kanpur. Police said that there was a dispute going on for a long time regarding the possession of the ashram temple. The matter had even reached the local police several times. Police said that both the parties were called and a compromise was reached and action was being taken to pacify the matter. There is panic in the entire village after the incident.
This entire matter is of Jalesar Ashram Temple of Gursahaiganj Kotwali area. Late on Tuesday evening, Mahant Raghu Das of the Ashram and one of his companions, Baba Shivdas, were coming out of the temple premises, when some powerful boys of the village attacked both the Babas. Baba Shivdas was set on fire by pouring inflammable substance. There was panic as soon as the fire broke out. When the Mahant of the temple shouted, other people came and somehow extinguished the fire on Baba.

Informed the local police about the incident. The police reached the spot and immediately sent Baba to the Government Medical College for treatment. Kannauj Superintendent of Police Amit Anand immediately reached the spot. He investigated the incident closely.
Had pointed a gun a few days ago
Fellow Baba Raghu Das alleged that Numberdar’s son Anil Alok and three other people had set fire to Baba Shivdas. These people used to fight every day over the possession of the temple. A few days ago also these people had put a gun to his head. A complaint about this was made to the local police. No concrete action was taken.

After this incident, Kannauj Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand said that this incident has come to light due to some internal dispute in the ashram. The police will seriously investigate all aspects and take concrete and strict action. No accused has been taken into police custody yet.
