Balrampur. Playing openly with the life of mother and child has become the intention of the district women’s hospital administration. The insensitivity of doctors and health workers, known for extorting money from patients, was reached when a pregnant woman suffering from anemia and bleeding was thrown out of the hospital without treatment. Five thousand rupees were demanded from four months pregnant. The referral form was stopped for non-payment of money. Not only this, middlemen roaming in the hospital in the name of giving blood also demanded 20 thousand rupees. The pregnant woman, who was taken out from the hospital, kept on agonizing lying on the ground near the private bus stand.
Shabbir, a resident of Nethwa village of Pachpedwa, told that his wife Shahiba was pregnant for four months. She was admitted to the District Women’s Hospital on Friday morning at 10 am due to pain. The hope of the village was with him. Shabbir alleges that outside investigation was written to Shahiba. Ultrasound revealed that it was difficult for the baby to survive. The hospital staff took one thousand rupees from Shabbir in the name of treatment, but did not do any treatment.
When the condition deteriorated at 12 noon, the doctor asked to bring two units of blood. After about 10 minutes two people came and said that two units of blood will cost 20 thousand rupees. Due to lack of money, Shabbir refused both of them. Later, the female doctor Dr. Nagma said to refer her. CMS Dr. Vinita Rai says that according to the ultrasound report, a lumpy shape was visible in Shahiba’s stomach. On this basis he was referred to Bahraich.
Husband wandering for ambulance: According to Shabbir, after referring Sahiba, ambulance facility was not given. He did not even have money to go to Bahraich. He put his wife Sahiba on the road track near the private bus stand. She fell on the track moaning in pain. Private Bus Union President Jabbar Khan informed the media persons about the pain of the pregnant and the insensitivity of the Women’s Hospital. CMO Dr. Sushil Kumar took information from CMS of Women’s Hospital. CMS said that there is no information about taking money from the patient. Ambulance could not be given as Shabbir left without informing.
