Washington The Biden administration has been criticized in the US for not helping India deal with the Corona epidemic. Various circles, including members and supporters of the Democratic Party, have begun to target the Biden administration. Indian-American lawmaker Raja Krishnamurthy has requested the administration that AstraZeneca vaccine should be sent to countries where the situation is worsening due to Corona. He said, India and other countries need vaccines. At such a time, we cannot keep the vaccine in the warehouse. We should send it where it can save people’s lives. To prevent the spread of the virus globally and to protect the international economy and the health of the people, we should give vaccines to the affected countries.
He said, we have four crore doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in our warehouse right now. We are not currently using this stock. We have also helped Mexico and Canada fight Corona. I respectfully but strongly want to request the Biden administration to release AstraZeneca’s vaccine, including India and Argentina, to those who are severely affected by Corona. Meanwhile, amidst the outbreak of Corona epidemic in India, a period of verbal assurances from the US continues. On the one hand, it has banned the export of raw materials used in the manufacture of vaccines. On the other hand, its officials are not lagging behind in giving assurances.
Now US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that America will soon help India and its health workers battling the Corona epidemic. Blinken’s remarks come at a time when the US is under increasing pressure to help India through vaccines and other life-saving products. “Our sentiments are with the people of India in this era of Corona epidemic,” Blinken tweeted. We are working closely with our partners in the Government of India. We will soon provide additional help to India and its health workers. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has also said that his country is very much concerned about the outbreak of the epidemic in India.
He said, India is fighting the epidemic very bravely. We are working 24 hours together with our friends in the Government of India for more supplies and support. More help will be provided soon. Earlier, White House Press Secretary Jane Paki also said that the US is working with Indian officials to identify areas in which India can be helped to combat the epidemic. Carnegie India, an India-based think tank, has also called for the Biden administration to exempt the Defense Production Act and provide relief to the global vaccine supply chain. In April 2020, the then President Donald Trump implemented the Defense Production Act. Its purpose was to give emergency authority to the President to give direct instructions to the domestic industry.
