Lucknow / Baghpat. The farmers’ agitation, which started with the demand to withdraw the agricultural law, led to a round of jam and protests at some places in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. In Lucknow, the Indian Farmers Union had prepared the Chakka jam on Ahimau-Sultanpur road, but it was not possible due to administrative quickness. In Lucknow on Friday, farmers led by State Vice President of the Indian Farmers Union, Harnam Singh Verma, performed at the Naubasta Kala of Chinhat police station area.
Harnam Singh Verma said that a team of farmers under his leadership are going on a demonstration in Sadar Tehsil to protest against withdrawal of agricultural laws and lathi charge on farmers. “We will fight on the cross and if the police arrest us then we will arrest them,” Varma said. Additional Director General of Police Law and Order Prashant Kumar has called the demonstrations in Lucknow ineffective. He said that in view of the farmers’ warning, comprehensive preparations have been made in view of law and order in the entire state. On the other hand, according to the news received from Baghpat, the Bharatiya Kisan Union blocked the Sonepat Highway on the Niwada bridge in Baghpat district on Friday in protest against withdrawal of agricultural laws and lathi charge on farmers.
Expressing outrage over the lathi charge made on the farmers of Punjab and Haryana, Bhakiyu announced the jam in various districts of western Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, the police have changed the routes in view of the jam of Bhakiyu. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Singh said that the Niwada bridge in Baghpat district is the border of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Here magistrates are present to deal with any kind of unpleasant situation and a large number of police force has been deployed. Along with this, police contact is maintained with local farmer leaders.
