Kotdwar Subantar Swatantra Singh of 16 Garhwal Rifles sacrificed himself for the country along the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. On Thursday, firing was carried out by Pakistan in violation of the cease fire. Swatant Singh, a resident of village Udiyari under Dwarikhal block, was killed due to firing during retaliation. His body was brought by helicopter to Lansdowne, headquarters of Garhwal Rifles Regimental Center, on Friday evening.
Please tell that on Thursday, the Pakistani army opened fire in Digwar and Keran sectors along the Line of Control in Poona district, in which Subedar Swatant Singh became a sacrifice. At around 8.30 pm last night, the army was informed of his sacrifice by his army, after which there was uproar in the house. Balidani became the mother of independent Singh, Pyari Devi, wife Rekha Devi, daughter Shivani and Sangeeta. His sons Ankit Rawat and Aditya somehow managed to handle the other members of the house. Meanwhile, other villagers also reached their residence and consoled the family members.
By morning news of Swatantra Singh’s sacrifice spread like fire across the region and villagers from nearby villages including Kandakhal, Banali, Markhola started arriving at his residence. Business establishments in the surrounding areas remained closed on Friday at the sacrifice of Swatantra Singh. Former head Harshadeva Naithani said that by late evening Balidani’s body is expected to reach her ancestral home. It is said that Swatantra Singh, father of Swatantra Singh, also served the country by staying in the army.
Chief Minister will pay tribute
On Saturday, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will reach village Udiyari and will pay homage to Balidani Swatantra Singh. It was informed that a body helicopter of Balidani Swatanter Singh was brought from Delhi to Lansdowne, headquarters of Garhwal Rifles Regimental Center.
