Bharuch Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel was handed over to his ancestral village Pirman in Bharuch district of Gujarat on Thursday. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi participated in the burying of the party’s key strategist and troublemaker. Patel died on Wednesday. Patel’s Mayyat (Parthik Deh) was brought from Vadodara to Piraman. After this, Patel was handed over to the Muslim cemetery in the presence of hundreds of local and Congress leaders. The Congress leader had reached the Vadodara Airport on Wednesday night and was kept at the Sardar Patel Hospital in Ankleshwar town in Bharuch district. Gandhi reached Surat airport on Thursday and then went to Piraman by road where he comforted the family of the late MP.
A local resident said that as per Patel’s wish, he is buried in the tomb of his parents. Patel’s tirade was attended by Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda, All India Congress Committee’s Gujarat in-charge Rajiv Satav, Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankar Singh Vaghela, among others.
