Every year hundreds of journalists in the country lose their lives while reporting. While covering the news, intimidation of journalists has become common. But now it is not good for those who threaten journalists like this. If someone is now abusive to journalists, he may have to go to jail.
Following the Allahabad High Court’s remarks, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Narendra Modi have announced that a fine of up to Rs 50,000 can be imposed on anyone who treats journalists indecently or tries to bully them. At the same time, he could also be imprisoned for up to three years, Yogi said, adding that those arrested on charges of intimidation will not easily get bail.
So do not indulge in any indecency with journalists and give respect to journalists. Recently, any kind of violence on media persons in Maharashtra or damage to properties of media persons and media institutions was done, most of the cases of attacks on journalists keep on coming.
Last year, a journalist working for a Hindi daily in Uttar Pradesh was murdered by unknown miscreants near the Nagar Palika Bazar in Bilhaur. In April this year, a TV journalist was shot and seriously injured by unknown miscreants riding on two motorcycles outside his Kavinagar residence in Ghaziabad. He later died.
CM Yogi Adityanath says that if any journalist has any kind of trouble, then contact them immediately, the bully will be sent to jail within 24 hours. CM Yogi said in strict tone, talk to the journalists with respect or else You may get expensive.
