new Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today interact with the beneficiaries of the Atmanibir Nidhi Yojana (PM Swanidhi Yojana) from the Prime Minister street vendor through video conferencing. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will also be present on this occasion. Explain that Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal on Saturday distributed loans to about 3 lakh vendors under the scheme.
Note that the PM SVANidhi scheme was launched on 1 June 2020 to help poor street vendors affected by COVID-19, who resume livelihood activities. So far, a total of over 24 lakh applications have been received under the scheme, out of which over 12 lakh have been approved and around 5.35 lakh loans have been disbursed. In the state of Uttar Pradesh, more than 6 lakh applications have come out of which around 3.27 lakh have been sanctioned and 1.87 lakh loans have been disbursed.
Under this scheme, street vendors can get up to Rs 10,000 working capital at concessional rates. So far, Uttar Pradesh has received 557,000 applications from vendors, the highest in the entire country.
It is worth noting here that last month also PM Modi held talks with street vendors of Madhya Pradesh under ‘Sarvnidhi Sammelan’. The PM spoke to three vendors from Indore, Gwalior and Raisen and about the benefits and difficulties, if any, they faced in the purchase of seed capital for their business under the scheme.
In June, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the scheme which provides special micro-credit facility to provide affordable loans of up to Rs 10,000 to more than 50 lakh street vendors, who have on or before 24 March Was operating his business. The scheme is valid till March 2022.
