Patna / Aurangabad. Today the voting process has become largely peaceful and clean. But there was also a time in Bihar two decades ago when the elections were dominated by violence. There were plenty of firing incidents with booth robbery.
The bullies said we would cast the votes of women
Retired teacher of Aurangabad, Lalan Singh, remembers one such incident as soon as the election comes. They say that it was a very difficult task to vote then. Once he went to conduct elections in Naveenagar as a magistrate. Everything was going smoothly. People lined up to vote. Who said the oppressed and backward, women were not even allowed to vote. Some domineering clearly said that women do not vote here. We cast their vote ourselves. It was just being communicated that the bombing started from behind a banyan tree nearby. Seeing this, the polling party and officers present there trembled. The policemen somehow caught a bomb-running criminal.
Only 280-290 people voted out of 800
The then DM and SP arrived after the incident. Polling was stopped at 3 pm in view of security. There were a total of 800 voters but only 280–290 people voted.
Do vote
They say, now the environment has changed. Due to the formation of clusters, the voting team is getting a lot of convenience. Earlier, one had to go directly to the booth, so one day before that, one had to spend some time in the night. As a result, effective people around used to create pressure. Now, due to a stay on the cluster, the polling party arrives directly at the booth at 7:00 am. Due to this, many kinds of inconvenience are not there Violence in voting is also negligible. In such a situation, people should actively participate in the voting process.
