Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the vulture conservation center will become a medium for purification of the environment. It will also increase the chances of eco-tourism in that area. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Jatayu (Vulture) Conservation Center at Maharajganj on the occasion of concluding ‘Wildlife Week’ at his official residence. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the present state government is continuously working for the conservation and promotion of wildlife. The vulture conservation center will be a medium for purification of the environment.
Yogi said that as population increases, conservation of organisms is necessary. If a single link is weak, the eco system is also weak. Vulture purifies the environment. The way the dolphin has special importance in the purification of water, similarly the vulture has a place in the purification of the land.
He said that a record 25 crore saplings have been planted this year following the Kovid protocol. This has increased the forest cover of the state.
He said that the Chief Minister said that the efforts of the government have increased the number of tigers, unicorns and elephants in the last three and a half years. Earlier, the Chief Minister distributed online prizes to the winners of the competitions held during the Wildlife Week. Also communicated with him.
Forest Minister Dara Singh Chauhan said that Uttar Pradesh is becoming the role model of the country under the leadership of the Chief Minister. Economic funds are being given to farmers under various centrally funded schemes including Submission on Agroforestry, Namami Gange, National Bamboo Mission. Biodiversity management committees are being formed at the Gram Sabha level and biodiversity registers are being prepared. The forest cover has increased by 127 sq km in the last three years. The number of tigers has increased from 117 to 173. The number of National Heritage Elephants has also increased to 320.
A research book on the conservation of vultures was released on this occasion. The Chief Minister released the book prepared for Pilibhit Tiger Reserve area and the book ‘Environmental Consciousness of Valmiki’.
