new Delhi. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has started the necessary process to build the Pinak missile. In this regard, the work of making pinnacle rockets, launchers and related equipment has started. Officials said on Friday that the DRDO has given all relevant details to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) for comprehensive production of the Pinak rocket system.
The Ministry of Defense stated that the Authority Holding Sealed Perticullers (AHSP) has assigned the responsibility of the production of pinnacle from DRDO to DGQA while carrying out the entire responsibility. AHSP is the department responsible for compiling, consolidating and analyzing defense products prior to manufacture. Pinak is a rocket-firing rocket system that can shoot accurately up to a range of 37.5 km.
It has been developed indigenously for the army. It is produced by domestic public and private defense companies. The pinnacle rocket is powered by a multi-barrel rocket launcher. It can fire 12 rockets in 44 seconds. The Defense Ministry had in the past ordered BEML Limited to supply 330 trucks of high capacity. BEML is a company under Schedule A of Ministry of Defense.
Actually this system is tied on high capacity trucks of BEML. These trucks provide an edge to the Indian Army in the war zone. These trucks will be manufactured at the company’s Palakkad plant in Kerala. These will be supplied to the Ministry of Defense during the three years. Recently, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) had informed that its defense branch had received a contract from the Indian Ministry of Defense to supply the Pinak weapon system.
