Lucknow . The team of Lucknow Customs Department has seized around 3.8 kg gold biscuits at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSI) from a passenger coming from Saudi Arabia. It costs more than Rs 2 crore. This is the second time such seizure has been done in a period of just two days. With this, a clear link to the cartels smuggling gold from the Middle East is revealed.
A department statement said, “Lucknow Customs team took 33 gold biscuits (each biscuit weighs 116.64) from a passenger traveling from Riyadh to Lucknow in flight number G8 6451 at CCSI Airport on the night of 16.09.2020-17.09.2020. Gram), whose total weight was 3,849.12 grams and its value is Rs 2,09,77,704. ”
The gold biscuits were wrapped in cellotapes and placed in a black bag, which was in their undergarments.
On the basis of suspicion, customs officials conducted a thorough examination of the passenger, after which 33 gold biscuits were detected. The person has been arrested.
Earlier on Tuesday, Lucknow Customs took flight number from Dubai to Lucknow at the same airport. Another confiscation of gold biscuits weighing 583.2 grams was made from a passenger of FZ 8325. It was priced at Rs 31,78,440.
These gold biscuits were wrapped in several layers of carbon paper and cellotep and placed in cylindrical-shaped rubber material that was then wrapped in cellotep and placed in hand baggage, a statement said. The passenger was arrested.
