Lucknow . The judgment in the Babri demolition case in Ayodhya, which took place nearly 28 years ago, can be pronounced by the CBI special court on September 30. There are a total of 32 accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case. These include senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and Uma Bharti among others.
The special CBI court, while delivering the verdict on Wednesday, said that all are required to appear in court.
Advani, Joshi and Uma Bharti are accused of conspiracy, which led to the demolition of the 15th century structure built in December 1992.
It was said that the mosque was constructed in place of an ancient Ram temple. People associated with Sanatan Dharma believe that Lord Rama was born here. In November last year, the Supreme Court gave a landmark judgment in the Ram Janmabhoomi case and allowed the construction of the temple at the said place.
On July 24, 92-year-old Advani recorded his statement in the case before a special CBI court through video conference.
At the same time, 86-year-old Joshi had recorded his statement a day before Advani. Both have denied all the charges against themselves like Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh.
Senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh at the time of the mosque demolition.
His government was dismissed, as riots broke out across the country, killing around 3,000 people.
In April 2017, the apex court asked the special court to conduct day-to-day hearings and complete the case within two years.
After this, the deadline was also extended several times to complete the case. Special Judge S. The court extended the deadline to September 30 when Yadav sought more time to complete the case.
