new Delhi. With an emphasis on pursuing a series of development related projects for the electoral environment in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate three major projects related to the petroleum sector in the state this Sunday. Prime Minister Modi will unveil these projects through video conferencing. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also be present on the occasion.
The projects include Dugarpur-Banka section and two LPG bottling plants under the Paradip-Haldia-Dugarpur pipeline project.
The 193-km Dugarpur-Banka pipeline section constructed by Indian Oil is part of the Paradip-Haldia-Dugarpur pipeline project. For this, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on 17 February last year. The pipeline passes through West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar.
The laying of the pipeline in the Dugarpur-Banka section required crossing many natural and man-made obstacles. It has been reported that a total of 154 hecrossings have been bridged for this and include 13 rivers, five national highways and three railway crossings.
The LPG bottling plant at Banka will increase Bihar’s self-sufficiency by meeting the growing demand for LPG in the state. This bottling plant will cater to the needs of Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar districts of Bihar as well as Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Sahibganj and Pakur districts of Jharkhand. An expenditure of about Rs 131.75 crore has been incurred on this. The Center believes that this plant will create direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state.
With this, the construction of HPCL’s bottling plant at Harsiddhi in East Champaran has cost Rs 136.4 crore. The plant will cater to the LPG requirement of Bihar’s East Champaran, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Gopalganj and Sitamarhi districts.
