New Delhi Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stayed in Tehran during his return to India from Russia and held talks on regional security issues including Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation. Singh held a meeting on Saturday at the request of Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Aamir Hatami.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the talks took place in a cordial atmosphere between the two leaders. The two leaders emphasized the centuries-old culture and civilization between India and Iran.
Ways to pursue bilateral cooperation between the two leaders were discussed and exchange of views on regional security issues including peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Rajnath Singh went to Moscow to attend a joint meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.
In Moscow, Singh met his Chinese counterpart General Wei Feng on 4 September and held talks on the border dispute between the two countries in eastern Ladakh.
