President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of the Conference of Governors on the new National Education Policy through video conference on September 7 (Monday) at 10.30 am. This conference is being organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, on the theme ‘Role of New National Education Policy-2020 in the Transformation of Higher Education’.
The National Education Policy-2020 is the first education policy of the twenty-first century, which was declared after 34 years of the National Education Policy 1986. NEP-2020 has brought in major reforms at both the school and higher education levels.
The Central Government said in an official statement, the new National Education Policy strives to make India a just and conscious society. It envisages an India-centric education system that directly contributes to making India a global superpower.
According to the central government, the new national education policy will bring a paradigm shift in the education system of the country and will create a competent and strong educational ecosystem towards creating a new self-reliant India thought by the Prime Minister.
Several webinars, virtual conferences and conclaves are being organized on various aspects of National Education Policy 2020 across the country.
The Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission had earlier organized a ‘Conference on Transformative Reforms in Higher Education under the National Education Policy -2020’, which was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On September 7, the Conference of Governors will be attended by Education Ministers of all states, Vice Chancellors of State Universities and other senior officials.
