Lakhimpur (UP) Due to release of water from the dams in Sharda, Ghaghra and Mohana rivers, people from dozens of villages along their banks have been forced to go to flood relief camps. The most affected by this has been the village Raini of Dhaurahra tehsil. Most of its houses and almost all its crops have been destroyed by the flood waters. 110 affected families have been shifted to relief camps here.
The district administration is distributing ration kits to all the families affected by the floods and at the same time has advised the sugar mills to immediately return the sugarcane dues of the farmers of the affected villages.
People living in flood relief camps are undergoing medical examination and are also being asked to maintain social distancing.
Dhaurahra SDM Sunandu Sudhakaran said, “We are distributing ration kits to families at the relief camp in Dhaurahra tehsil. We have also ensured free medical check up, vaccination of infants. We are advising them if any If we see symptoms of Kovid-19, they should immediately inform us. ”
The SDM said that the Aira sugar mill has been directed to promptly pay the pending dues of all flood-affected farmers.
