Bhubaneswar India’s star runner Duti Chand, while clarifying on selling her car for the preparation for next year’s Tokyo Olympics, said on Wednesday that it had nothing to do with the lack of funds for her training. Duti said that she sold her sedan car because she did not want to burden the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and the Odisha government.
Duti recently posted on her Facebook account that she is selling her car to prepare for next year’s Tokyo Olympics. He later removed the post but by then it had made headlines in the country.
JSW Sport director Partha Jindal said on Wednesday that he had offered support to Duti Chand several times. He said that the doors are still open for Duti.
Duti said in a statement on Twitter, “I resorted to social media to sell my car to BMW. I don’t have the resources to maintain a luxury car. Although I still love it a lot. I’ve never seen it. Didn’t say I was selling it for my training. ”
He said, “The Government of Odisha and my own KIIT University have always supported me. There is no denying the fact that my training is very expensive, especially for the 2021 Olympics. I only wanted this money for my training. Can be diverted for and buy a car after Kovid after receiving money from the state government. ”
Former tennis player Somdev Devvarman shared a story selling Duti’s car on his Twitter and wrote in the post, “When our players win, they win without the system, not because of it.”
Jindal Sports Institute has sponsored many Indian players. Jindal, replying to Somdev’s tweet, wrote, “Absolute nonsense, we have offered to support him several times in IIS. The proposal is still open.”
In response to this, Somdev wrote, “I cannot speak about how and where he ended his money and fund. I do not know about his personal situation. I think it would be good for all that government funds And there should be transparency in the prize money. I wanted to raise a big issue here that most of the players achieve success without the system and I am still up to it.
