Kanpur. Kanpur police is caught in a big controversy after asking the family of the kidnapped person to pay the ransom money to the kidnappers. At the behest of the police, the family arranged 30 lakh ransom and reached the designated spot. The police were already waiting there to catch the extinction but the kidnappers were smarter than the police.
They ran away with money and the police could not save the hostage, nor could they catch the kidnappers.
According to reports, Chaman Singh’s son Sandeep was kidnapped on 22 June. Sandeep works in a local pathology lab. The kidnappers called the family and demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom. Chaman Singh lodged an FIR at Barra Police Station. On the advice of the police, Chaman Singh arranged the ransom amount and at the behest of the police, he handed it over to the kidnapper.
Singh told reporters, the police are now saying that they have no information about the whereabouts of the kidnappers and his son. Meanwhile, a video of his daughter crying out for help from the media and police has gone viral on social media. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar Prabhu said, “I am investigating this alleged kidnapping case registered at Barra Police Station. Our priority is to rescue the hostage.”
He further said that separate teams have been formed to investigate the culprits and save the victim and the matter is being investigated.
