new Delhi. The demand for Rahul Gandhi to be re-elected Congress president has intensified once again on Saturday. A few days ago, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had also raised the matter in the CWC meeting. The matter was overshadowed by a virtual meeting of party MPs on Saturday, while Rahul Gandhi remained silent during the discussion.
Sources said that Gaurav Gogoi, MP close to Rahul, and Manikram Tagore asked the party leadership to make Rahul Gandhi the president to lead the party in this difficult time.
Earlier in the Congress executive meeting in June, Gehlot demanded that Rahul Gandhi be re-elected party president.
Before Saturday’s meeting, senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh insisted that the party leadership should take up the challenge of building the party organization under the energetic leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. He said that these two young leaders have the courage and courage to compete with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Digvijay said in a series tweet, “Party leadership should take up the challenge of building a party organization brick by brick. We need the dynamism of Rahul ji and Priyanka ji. I am sure that both have a Modi-Shah duo Have the courage and courage to compete with. ”
But Rahul Gandhi has indicated that he is not going to return to the post in the near future. In response to a question on the subject last month, he said, “You please read my letter, which I wrote a year ago on this issue.”
Rahul Gandhi resigned as the Speaker after the party’s defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
