Police arrested another on Monday night along with UP Congress Minority Cell chairman Shahnawaz Alam on charges of committing a disturbance at the crossroads under the guise of protests against the CAA and NRC in the capital Lucknow. After the arrest of Shahnawaz, the party’s national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has attacked the Yogi Adityanath government. Priyanka Gandhi, very active on social media, tweeted two on Tuesday and said that Yogi Adityanath government of UP, you people can suppress the voice of other parties, not ours.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, national general secretary of the Congress and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, said that the Yogi Adityanath government of BJP can stop the Uttar Pradesh Police from raising voice even if it is the tool of repression and not of our party. He has also taken a dig at all opposition parties. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote that Congress leaders and activists are committed to raising their voice on public issues. The BJP government can stop the UP Police from voicing other parties, not our party, by making the UP Police a tool of repression. Along with the tweet, he has also uploaded CCTV footage and said that all of you see how the UP Police picked up the chairman of our Minority Department in the dark of night. Further Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that our state president Ajay Kumar Lallu was kept in jail for four weeks on the first false charges. Police action is repressive and undemocratic. Now the soldiers of the Congress are not afraid of police sticks and fake cases.
Hazratganj police arrested Congress leader Shahnawaz Alam and another on Monday night in Lucknow. Shahnawaz is the chairman of UP Congress Minority Cell. Shahnawaz is accused of inciting people and attacking police during a demonstration at the Parivartan crossroads in Lucknow.
On receiving the news of the arrest of the Congress leader, all party workers and officials including State Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu reached Hazratganj Kotwali. The Congress president accused the government and police administration of dictatorship. During this, there was a lot of uproar in Kotwali. After this, the police took out the workers using light force, even after this, the workers and officials remained there till late night.
According to the police, on December 19, various organizations in Lucknow protested against the CAA and NRC. During this time, a crowd of hundreds had not only attacked the police but also set fire to several vehicles. Many policemen were injured during this period. In this case, the police has also filed a charge sheet against the accused. The sword of arrest is now hanging on those accused of nuisance in the capital, who did not pay the prescribed fine. The administration has issued instructions for his arrest. In the violence, there was a loss of five and a half crores including private and government property. In five police station areas, miscreants broke into, violence, vehicle arson.
