new Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party is a constant attacker on the funding of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF). It is now known that the Foundation had allocated 100 million rupees from the general budget of 1991-92. In this regard, BJP has targeted former Prime Minister and then Finance Minister Manmohan Singh. Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra has also questioned the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for giving money to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. It is said that this foundation was formed to take money under the chairmanship of Sonia Gandhi. This is an example of Congress corruption.
The BJP has raised the issue by releasing documents of the 1991–92 General Budget speech. The budget speech said that the government has decided to give hundred crores to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. This amount will be given for five years at the rate of Rs 20 crore per year. However, it is being told that the government was not successful in releasing the funds to the Foundation despite the budget allocation due to the uproar of the opposition at that time.
According to the budget documents, the then Finance Minister Manmohan Singh had announced the allocation of hundred crore rupees in the general budget to the foundation named after him to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
In the budget speech, he said, “The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has been set up to perpetuate the memories of the former Prime Minister and promote his views. This foundation is for development of science and technology, literacy, environmental protection, communal harmony, national Works for unity. Also, the Foundation will play an important role in improving the standard of living of the underprivileged and in determining India’s role in the global economy. So the government has allocated a hundred crores of rupees as a tribute to Rajiv Gandhi. Has decided. ”
BJP’s Amit Malviya said, “The 1991 Budget Speech Documents show that when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Finance Minister, he had allocated hundred crores to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. For five years at the rate of 20 crores per year While serving the interests of the Gandhi family, Mr. Emadar the former Prime Minister went as far as anyone could go. ”
On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Three times the money was taken from the PM Relief Fund in the name of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. The money has been raised by building a shell company. Rameshwar Thakur was its auditor. The rule is that in three years the auditor Will be changed, but why they did not change. Twice the party made him a Rajya Sabha MP and also the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. This Foundation was created to take money while Sonia Gandhi was the head of office. Think how Congress is doing corruption . “
