Less than a week is left for the start of IPL 2025. The first match of the 18th season of IPL will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Interestingly, both KKR and RCB will enter this season with a new captain.
Ajinkya Rahane has got the command of KKR. At the same time, the captaincy of RCB is in the hands of Rajat Patidar. Patidar was recently made the captain of RCB. Now former captain and legendary batsman Virat Kohli has reacted on Rajat Patidar becoming the captain.
India’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli has said that Royal Challengers Bangalore’s new captain Rajat Patidar will captain for a long time. Kohli, who has been playing for RCB since the start of IPL in 2008, has been the face of the team. He has also captained for more than a decade.
Patidar has been made the captain in place of Faf du Plessis. Du Plessis will now play for Delhi Capitals. Delhi has not handed over the captaincy to Faf. Delhi has made Akshar Patel the captain and Faf du Plessis the vice-captain.
Kohli told RCB fans on Monday at the team’s unboxing event, “He is going to be your captain for a long time. He will prove to be a good captain, he has everything that is needed to succeed. There is excitement and happiness like every season. I have been playing for 18 years and love RCB. We have a great team and I am very excited.”
Rajat Patidar said, “Legends like Virat Bhai, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle have played for RCB. I have grown up watching them. I have liked this team since the beginning and I am happy that I got the opportunity to captain such a big team of T20 cricket.”
