Agra. Shahi Jama Masjid Intezamia Committee chairman Mohammad Zahid, who was in the news, was attacked by masked men riding in a black Scorpio on Kothi Meena Bazaar Road on Tuesday afternoon.
The attackers pulled the chairman out of the Innova and beat him with iron rods and sticks on the road. They vandalized the Innova. The attack on the road caused a traffic jam on Kothi Meena Bazaar Road. After the incident, the attackers fled from the spot.
On getting the information, the ACP and the force of many police stations reached the spot. The injured chairman was admitted to Pushpanjali Hospital located at Delhi Gate. It is suspected that the reason behind the attack is the viral audio of the chairman five days ago, in which he used objectionable language against women.
A case has been registered against seven-eight unknown attackers in the matter. At the same time, a case has been registered against the chairman in Mantola police station under the section of disturbing communal harmony and IT Act.
The attack happened while returning from an acquaintance’s house
The incident happened at 2:30 pm on Tuesday. Mohammad Zahid, a resident of Mundapada Mantola, is the chairman of Shahi Jama Masjid Intezamia Committee. He had gone to Saket Colony, Shahganj to meet an acquaintance. When he could not meet the acquaintance, he was returning home in his Innova car.
Driver Habib, a resident of Sewla, Sadar, was driving the Innova. Mohammad Zahid was sitting in the back seat. Habib told that something was thrown on his Innova from behind on Kothi Meena Bazaar Maidan Road.
Seeing this in the rear mirror, he stopped the Innova. As soon as he stopped the car, seven-eight masked men got down from the black Scorpio which was following behind. The attackers armed with iron rods and sticks caught him.
After pulling the chairman out of the Innova, they threw him on the road and started beating him badly with iron rods and sticks. Due to this open audacity, there was a jam at Kothi Meena Bazaar. After beating for about five minutes, the attackers broke the glass of the Innova and fled from Kothi Meena Bazaar Ground towards the road leading to G.I.C.
The driver Habib informed the police and the family of the chairman about the attack. ACP Loha Mandi Mayank Tiwari, Shahganj and Loha Mandi police station reached the spot. Injured chairman Mohammad Zahid was admitted to Pushpanjali Hospital located at Delhi Gate. He has suffered injuries in his leg and stomach.
In this case, the chairman’s brother Faisal has filed a complaint in Shahganj police station against seven-eight masked unknown attackers for assault, rioting and mobile robbery. ACP Loha Mandi Mayank Tiwari said that a case is being registered.
At the same time, the reason behind the attack is believed to be the viral audio of the chairman on social media, in which objectionable language has been used for Hindu leaders. Many Hindu organizations had expressed anger over the viral audio. Case against Zahid too
In this case, Janjati Samadhan Foundation President Sudama Singh Chonkar has filed a case against Mohammad Zahid in Mantola police station for disturbing communal harmony and under the IT Act.
Mohammad Zahid’s brother Faisal said that some people of the society are making the audio viral in the chairman’s voice with the help of AI as part of a conspiracy against him.
DCP City Suraj Kumar Rai said that the chairman says that the voice in the audio is not his. To know the truth, a sample of his voice will be taken and sent to the forensic lab for matching with the audio.
People around thought it was a dispute over vehicle collision
When the chairman was being beaten up by the Scorpio riders, the people around thought that there was a dispute over vehicle collision. Due to which a fight was going on, due to which they did not come to intervene. Seeing the iron rods and sticks in the hands of the attackers, people did not get out of their vehicles. After they ran away, the driver told the truth to the people.
There is no CCTV around the crime scene
The place where the chairman was attacked was chosen very carefully. There are no CCTV cameras at the place where the attack took place. The Janakpuri office was located 100 meters away. Due to trees etc. planted there, the CCTV cameras installed in the houses of the colony do not show the scene clearly. It is suspected that the attackers had started following the chairman from Saket Colony itself.
