Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday, 26 December at the age of 92. He was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Manmohan Singh became the 13th Prime Minister of India in 2004 and his tenure lasted till 2014. From the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi (PM Modi) to celebrities from politics, film world and sports world, everyone has condoled the death of the former Prime Minister of India.
In the official statement issued by AIIMS, it was told that due to increasing age, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s health had deteriorated. On 26 December, he suddenly fainted and when his condition worsened, he was admitted to AIIMS at around 8 pm on Thursday night. He was declared dead in AIIMS after about an hour and 40 minutes.
Sports world expressed grief
Indian veteran spin bowler Harbhajan Singh expressed grief over the death of Manmohan Singh through social media and wrote, “I am saddened by the sudden demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ji. He was a very gentle person as well as a visionary leader.” Harbhajan wished well for the former PM’s family, friends and relatives in this difficult time. At the same time, Virender Sehwag, who waved the country’s flag with his fierce batting all over the world, said, “My heartfelt condolences on the demise of our former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji, Om Shanti.”
VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh also expressed condolences on the death of the former PM and prayed to God to give strength to his family and close ones. Vinesh Phogat, who was elected MLA from Julana seat in the Haryana Assembly elections, said that Manmohan Singh ji’s contribution will always be remembered in the history of India. Expressing condolences, Vinesh also said that he will always be alive in everyone’s hearts. From former captain of Indian women’s hockey team Rani Rampal to Munaf Patel, everyone has expressed their condolences.
