Royal Challengers Bangalore announced the retention list for IPL 2025. The franchise decided to retain only three players, which includes Virat Kohli, batsman Rajat Patidar and fast bowler Yash Dayal. Bangalore retained all three Indian players.
RCB’s retention list raised a question as to who will be made the captain in 2025. The team released Faf du Plessis, who has been captaining for the last few seasons. It was also reported that Virat Kohli will once again be seen as the captain in IPL 2025. However, the franchise did not give any update regarding the captaincy. Either the team will buy a new captain in the auction or Virat Kohli will be made the captain again.
RCB spent 37 crores in retention
RCB spent Rs 37 crore to retain three players. The team retained Virat Kohli for the highest amount of Rs 21 crore. Apart from this, Rajat Patidar was retained for Rs 11 crore and Yash Dayal for Rs 5 crore.
83 crore left in purse
Now Bangalore has Rs 83 crore left in its purse for the mega auction to be held for IPL 2025. Let us tell you that the teams have got a purse value of Rs 120 crore for IPL 2025. Now it will be interesting to see whom RCB buys for Rs 83 crore.
