Political activities have intensified in the state for the by-elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh. With the announcement of the date of elections in the state, all the political parties are busy in campaigning. Many have announced the candidates, while some are preparing for it. The opposition party Samajwadi Party is also busy with full preparations for the elections.
The party today announced an alliance for the by-elections in the state on Thursday, under which SP will contest on 8 seats and Congress has got 2 seats. Congress will contest on Khair and Ghaziabad. Samajwadi Party has also announced one more of its candidates today. The party has made Sumbul Rana the candidate for Mirapur seat of Muzaffarnagar. Samajwadi Party has so far announced the names of candidates on 7 seats for this seat.
Candidates already declared on 6 seats
Samajwadi Party had already announced candidates on 6 seats for the by-elections to be held in the state. The party had released its list the very next day of Haryana elections. Samajwadi Party has so far announced the names of its candidates for Phulpur, Karhal, Milkipur, Sisamau, Majhawan and Katehari. Today, the candidate for Meerapur was announced. Now the party’s candidate is yet to be announced for only 3 seats.
SP has fielded party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s nephew Tej Pratap Yadav from Karhal seat. This seat was vacated when Akhilesh Yadav became an MP. The party has given tickets to Naseem Solanki from Sisamau and Mustafa Siddiqui from Phulpur. Jyoti Bind from Majhawan seat and Shobhavati Verma from Katehari have got tickets.
Elections will be held on these seats
Many MLAs became MPs in the Lok Sabha elections. Most of the seats that have fallen vacant in the state have been due to MLAs becoming MPs. The seats on which by-elections are proposed include Katehari in Ambedkarnagar, Ghaziabad Sadar, Khair in Aligarh, Kundarki in Moradabad, Mirapur in Muzaffarnagar, Sisamau in Kanpur, Phulpur in Prayagraj, Karhal in Mainpuri and Majhawan seat in Mirzapur.
