NCP leader Baba Siddiqui of Maharashtra was shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday night. Siddiqui was shot in Bandra East, Mumbai. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he died. It is being told that two to three rounds of firing were done on Baba Siddiqui in which one bullet hit his chest while another bullet hit his stomach. Lilavati Hospital has also confirmed the death of Baba Siddiqui.
Just before the Lok Sabha elections, Baba Siddiqui left Congress and joined NCP Ajit faction. He has been an MLA from Congress 3 times and has also been a minister from Bandra West. After a rift in Congress, he joined NCP in February. Now after just a few months, he has been shot dead. After the incident, the police have detained two people. It is believed that both could be shooters. The police is currently interrogating them.
Attack happened while leaving son’s office
It is being told that Baba Siddiqui’s son Zeeshan’s office is also at a short distance from where he was shot. Zeeshan is an MLA from Bandra East. He was leaving his son’s office when the attackers fired three rounds at him. After which a bullet hit his chest.
Joined NCP just before Lok Sabha elections
Baba Siddiqui left Congress in February this year and joined Ajit Pawar’s faction’s NCP. After joining NCP, he had said that I am an open book, I am a family man. I do not want to speak ill of anyone. Politics of perception is going on, that’s why I have left Congress.
What did CM Shinde say on the incident?
After the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s statement has also come out. The CM said that strict action will be taken against the accused in connection with the attack and instructions have also been given by the police for this. Under no circumstances should there be any harm to the law and order in Mumbai. We will take this case to the fast track court.
Shiv Sena leader said Shinde has no right to remain on the post of CM
On the incident, Shiv Sena UBT leader Anand Dubey said that if former MLAs are not safe in Mumbai. Those who have been ministers earlier, who are with the government, whose son is an MLA now, if the life of such people is not safe then what security will this government provide to the common man. If you cannot keep your MLA-former minister safe then Devendra Fadnavis ji, you should resign. Eknath Shinde has no right to remain on the post of CM of the state.
BJP leader demanded strict action
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya said that the murder of Baba Siddiqui is a matter of concern. The government should form a special team and investigate it. He said that this seems to be a very big conspiracy, strict action should be taken.
